Covid-19 in France: 130 deaths and 21,825 new cases in 24 hours

2021-03-07T17:34:30.486Z

While the vaccination has accelerated this weekend, the contaminations remain numerous and the pressure on the intensive care services is high.

This is a record: 202,273 doses of vaccine were injected on Saturday, throughout France, according to figures from Public Health France.

This is the highest for a Saturday, more than double the previous record (70,478) last weekend, even if Olivier Véran had advanced the figure a little higher of 220,000 this Saturday.

A progression which is explained by the accelerator of the government, which had released thousands of doses everywhere in France.

Faced with accelerating vaccination, the epidemic is still not receding.

The number of new contaminations in 24 hours reached 21,825 cases, against 23,306 the day before.

19,952 new cases over the same period were registered a week ago.

Hospitals under pressure

24,818 people remain hospitalized this Sunday due to a Covid-19 infection.

This is 193 more than the day before (24,625) and 462 less than a week ago (25,280).

Among them, 3,743 patients are in an intensive care unit, 54 more than the day before (3,689) and 251 more than a week ago (3,492).

187 people have been admitted in the last 24 hours in intensive care, against 233 the day before and 208 a week ago.

We deplore, in the last 24 hours, 130 deaths in the hospital environment.

This is 43 less than the day before (173) and 8 more than a week ago (122).

In all, at least 88,574 people died from Covid-19 in France, in nursing homes and hospitals.
