Swiss voters are ruling today on the ban on the full veil. (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - GENEVA, MARCH 7 - Swiss voters are today announcing the ban on the full veil.

The referendum "Yes to the prohibition of disguising one's face", or anti-burqa initiative, as it was called, aims to prohibit the concealment of the face in public spaces and was promoted by numerous representatives of the center Unionedemocratica party (UDC / conservative right).

According to the latest polls, the outcome of the vote appears unbalanced.

Yes seems to prevail, but support for the text, opposed by the government and the majority of parliament, eroded during the campaign and those in favor are now at 49%, 47% of those interviewed are against and 4% are still undecided.

The polls close at 12 noon and the first trends are expected in the afternoon. Since this is a constitutional amendment, in order to be approved, the popular initiative will have to obtain a double majority of the people and the cantons.

Two other issues are currently being voted on at federal level, a federal decree on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Indonesia and a Federal Law on Electronic Identification Services. (HANDLE).
