2021-03-07T08:55:30.779Z

The scarcity of tourists and business trips to the capital is triggering a drop in the prices of furnished rentals.

This is one of the many effects of the coronavirus crisis.

According to the rent barometer carried out each month by the Seloger ad site, rents for furnished housing have fallen in Paris by 0.6% on average in one year (-1.5% for empty housing).

In detail, the figures vary according to the arrondissements and the figures notably highlight the significant reductions - even if the rents there obviously remain very high - in the arrondissements of central Paris: -3.3% in the 1st arrondissement for furnished rentals, -1.7 in the 2nd, -3.9 in the 3rd and -7.7% in the 4th arrondissement.

A drop in the price which is accompanied by an extension of rental periods, notably as a result of the massive arrival of furnished apartments on the market (+ 185% in Paris). Usually rented by owners via Airbnb or for short periods, these properties have arrived on the “classic” market in 2020, due to a lack of tourists or expatriates. Analysis with Claire Chaumuzeau, from the real estate agency Claire C'Immobilier, who has been working in the Marais for ten years.
