 Belgrade and the whole of Serbia pay tribute to Novak Djokovic, who today sets his new stellar record of 311 weeks at the top of the world tennis chart.

From 7 pm to 10 pm on the facade of the City Hall of the capital will be screened sequences filmed on some of the most beautiful and significant moments of the champion's career, while some of the symbolic buildings and bridges of Belgrade will light up with the colors of the Serbian flag.


    Messages of gratitude to Djokovic, the symbol and pride of an entire country, can be read on posters and posters around the city. At 6 pm there will also be a meeting, in compliance with all anti-virus prevention measures, masks and distancing, in front of the restaurant owned by Djokovic in the residential district of Novi Beograd. Surprises have been announced. "In this way we want to thank Novak for everything he has done so far for Serbia and Belgrade," said Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic. "For us Novak Djokovic has always been the best tennis player in the world, but now he is officially the best for the whole world, even for those who don't love him and don't recognize him as such," added Vesic. According to the media, Djokovic is in Belgrade these days.
