Name the station and call it Voyager.

In the days of the Corona, we all fantasize about a vacation on the shores of Bali or along the canals of Venice, but why not think bigger?

Or maybe high?

Try for example imagining a vacation in a hotel in space.

Indeed, rumors about the establishment of hotels in space have appeared frequently in recent years, but this time it seems to be happening.

As early as 2019, the Gateway Foundation of California released plans for the hotel, which is somewhat reminiscent of a luxury cruise experience.

Only in this case, the "buoyancy" is high above the Earth's atmosphere.

At the time, the project was called "Von Braun Station", which included 24 different units connected by elevators, with the heart of the station being a kind of wheel that revolves around itself and orbits the earth.

Since then, it has been decided to change the name of the station and call it Voyager.

It is to be built by the Orbital Assembly.

In an interview with CNN, the company's director, John Blinkov, said that due to the Corona plague, there were some delays in the program, but construction of the space hotel is expected to begin in 2026, and by 2027 the first guests will enter its gates.

"We're trying to make the public understand that the golden age of space travel is just around the corner. It's coming, and it's coming fast," Blinkov said.

Forget about "Odyssey 2001"

A glance at the hotel's drawings and plans reveals what it is supposed to look like, implying that it will not be significantly different from any other luxury hotel, housed on the ground.

On the other hand, it will be possible to make breathtaking observations of it towards the Earth.

Tim Altera, senior design architect at Orbital, has previously said that the hotel's aesthetics are a direct counter-reaction to Stanley Kubrick's 2001 film: A Space Odyssey - which he called "a sketch of what not to do".

"I think Stanley Kubrick's goal was to highlight the gap between technology and humanity and therefore, he made the stations and spaceships very sterile and alienating."

On the other hand, in the new hotel, things will be different: it will have warm-looking suites, trendy bars and restaurants and other indulgences, such as beds and showers, just like in a regular hotel.

The hotel restaurant serves traditional "space food"

Alongside these, in order to intensify the "spaceship" feeling, there will be a number of innovations in it.

For example, the hotel restaurant will serve traditional "space food", such as freeze-dried ice cream.

In addition, leisure activities will be offered that include things that cannot be done on Earth.

"Thanks to the weightlessness and reduced gravity, it will be possible to jump higher, lift things easily, and move in unfamiliar ways on Earth."

The company emphasizes that experiences of non-gravity will only be offered to those who are interested.

This is due to the special physical structure of the station, where the feeling of gravity increases as you move away from its center, and vice versa.

Currently, the prices of accommodation at the space hotel have not been announced, but there is no doubt that the price tag will be very high.

Virgin Galactic, for example, which plans to launch passengers for a sub-route flight (lower than that offered by the space hotel), will charge $ 250,000 per person.

However, the company says that in the more distant future, the price will drop, and eventually equate to that of spending a cruise or a trip to Disneyland.
