Pulling lanes in the corona shutdown.
In many places unthinkable, but possible again since March in a swimming pool in Lower Saxony.
At least for Rosie and Manfred Warnke.
The Warnke couple:
"So now we have to take a break first."
"Swim for 45 minutes - it's really tough."
"And that alone here in the water."
"We're not in practice."
In Schneverdingen, around 30 existing customers can use the local indoor swimming pool for an hour twice a week - together with a maximum of four other people from their household.
This is made possible by a strict hygiene concept and a ruling by the Hanover Administrative Court.
That had allowed a woman to run her gym if she sublet it to one household by the hour.
Lars Weber, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Schneverdingen:
"... and the health department gave us this opportunity, in coordination with the Lower Saxony Ministry of Health, so that we can open just like a fitness studio."
The swimming pool rewards its most loyal customers.
Despite expected closings, some had bought a season ticket for the whole year in December.
The municipal swimming pool did not even suffer financial losses as a result of the "opening light".
For technical reasons, the water has to be heated anyway, according to the municipal utilities.
It uses the waste heat from a biogas combined heat and power plant.
Only the hygiene measures and the employees who are no longer fully on short-time work would have to be paid.
Lars Weber, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Schneverdingen:
“However, they were happy that they could work again and that they had an easy, slower start. So not the same as the hairdressers had to go from zero to a hundred, but everyone can go back to work for a quarter. "
The offer is well received.
The Warnke couple enjoy "their" swimming pool to the full.
The Warnke couple:
“I have to say, you don't have to look to see if someone is behind you while swimming. But I think it would be nice if the others ... "
"It would be nice if the others were there."
"Wonderful, your back is happy."
