(ANSA) - BEIJING, MARCH 09 - China is launching the first 'vaccine passport', with a newly activated program to allow Chinese citizens to travel. It is a digital certificate that shows the vaccination status of the subject with the test results and can be accessed through the WeChat social platform. The purpose of the certificate is to "help promote global economic recovery and facilitate cross-border travel," said a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry. At the moment, however, this 'passport' - which can also be paper - is only available for Chinese citizens and is not mandatory. (HANDLE).
