China is launching the first 'vaccine passport', with a newly activated program to allow Chinese citizens to travel.
This is a digital certificate showing the subject's vaccination status with test results and can be accessed through the WeChat social platform.
The purpose of the certificate is to "help promote global economic recovery and facilitate cross-border travel," a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
At the moment, however, this 'passport' - which can also be paper - is only available for Chinese citizens and is not mandatory.
