(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 09 - Disney + has surpassed 100 million global subscribers in 16 months since launch, as announced today by Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) during the company's annual virtual meeting of shareholders .
"The tremendous success of Disney +, which has now surpassed 100 million subscribers, has prompted us to be even more ambitious and significantly increase our investments in developing high-quality content," said Chapek.
"We have, in fact, set a target of over 100 new titles per year and this includes Disney Animation, Disney LiveAction, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. Our direct-to-consumer business is the Company's top priority and our extensive line- up content will continue to fuel growth. "
Disney + was launched in the United States on November 12, 2019 and then made its way to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Latin America and most recently Singapore. (HANDLE).
