(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 08 - Protecting bears by keeping them free: this is the goal of the National Days of the LegaAntiviviszione throughout Italy, on the weekends of 13-14 and 20-21 March.

"Everyone will be able to support the appeal for 'pardon' to the Trentino bears - for M49 and M57, for example, unjustly segregated at Casteller - and contribute to the legal actions of the Lav in defense of these wild animals" explains the animal rights association indicating that " it is enough to choose the registration to the Association. Furthermore, it will be possible to contribute to support the Association also through the traditional Easter egg Lav (made of dark, organic chocolate from Altromercato, the largest organization of Fair Trade in Italy) ".

The most recent legal battles carried out by the defenseless Lav of the Trentino bears, "bear the names of bears that need our help - recalls the NGO - Kj2, killed by the Province of Trento in 2017; M49 captured by the Province of Trento in July 2019, April 2020 and September 2020; M57, captured by the Province of Trento in August 2020; DJ3 locked up for years at Casteller; JJ4 free but on which an arrest order hangs; Daniza, killed by the veterinarian during a clumsy attempt to capture ".

Bears "have no fault, bears are bears - states Massimo Vitturi, head of Lav Animali selvatici - between 1999 and 2002, 10 bears from Slovenia were released in the Brenta Dolomites, 3 males and 7 females aged 3 and 6 years. Starting from those ten years, today the estimated population is around 80 individuals, even if over the years there are at least thirty bears whose traces have been lost because no longer detected or dead or killed. Among these - continues the note - the sad and unforgettable stories of KJ2 killed by a shotgun fired by a Forestry agent, or of Daniza.

Currently DJ3, M49 and M57 are rotting locked in the enclosure of Casteller (Trento), less than a "dog disruption area. The relationship with these magnificent wild animals must be rethought from the ground up, favoring a respectful relationship between humans and bears, also involving national politics".
