It's not difficult at all, it just takes a little time.

It is best to start preparing one day in the morning, then the yogurt can mature during the day and you can put it in the refrigerator overnight.

is ready for breakfast.

And you know exactly what is in natural yoghurt.

As you will see, you need ready-made natural yogurt or yogurt powder (available in health food stores, health food stores or online) to make yogurt yourself.

that convert milk sugar (lactose) into more digestible lactic acid.

With the so-called fermentation, lactic acid bacteria and heat create delicious, creamy yoghurt with a firm consistency and a slightly sour taste in a few hours.

Make yogurt yourself: You need these ingredients for it

  • 1 liter of whole milk

  • 2 tbsp natural yogurt or yogurt powder (also called yogurt ferment or yogurt culture)

You also need:

  • pot

  • thermometer

  • clean glasses for filling (with lids)

Make yogurt yourself: simple instructions for at home

  • Put the milk in a saucepan and heat it to 90 degrees to kill germs and bacteria.

  • Let the milk simmer for about 3 minutes.

    Important:

    the milk must not boil!

  • Then let the milk cool to 40 to 45 degrees (check with the thermometer).

  • Then stir in the fresh natural yoghurt or yoghurt ferment (dosage according to the package insert).

  • Pour the mixture into clean jars and seal them.

  • The

    yoghurt mixture needs constant heat of 45 to 50 degrees for the

    10 to 12 hours

    : place the yoghurt jars on a baking sheet in the oven and make sure that the oven is neither too cold nor too warm.

    (If the temperature is too high, the bacteria will die.) During this time you should not move the yoghurt glasses if possible.

  • Then let the yoghurt cool down and put it in the fridge overnight.

  • The

    homemade natural yoghurt can be kept in the refrigerator

    for about a week.

    It tastes delicious, for example, with honey, nuts and dried or fresh fruits.

    But be careful: you should never eat these fruits in natural yoghurt!

    How to turn your homemade natural yoghurt into fruit yoghurt

    Would you prefer fruity yoghurt instead of natural?

    No problem: Simply puree the fruit of your choice (for example strawberries) and mix it with the yoghurt.
