Student distress: a site to call for free shrinks

2021-03-09T19:13:29.406Z

The Ministry of Higher Education is launching this Wednesday the Santé Psy Etudiant website for all students who wish to benefit

“Students, talk about your difficulties!

This is the word of welcome intended for all young people who will be able to connect from this Wednesday March 10 to the Santé Psy Etudiant site.

Free and intended for all French students enrolled in higher education, it aims to offer an "urgent response", according to the Ministry of Higher Education, to all young people in distress, in the midst of the Covid crisis -19.

How to benefit from it?

All the young people who register will have the possibility to quickly make an appointment - by videoconference or in an office - with a psychologist near their home, without paying a cent.

And thus benefit from “psy checks”, the psychological support package, promised in January by Emmanuel Macron, which was only available in certain departments for the time being.

A condition to claim it: be referred by your general practitioner or the university health service (if you are enrolled in college).

"The anonymity of the student will be respected," insists in the entourage of the Minister of Higher Education, Frédérique Vidal.

All data on the site will remain confidential.

"

Address extended delays

Clearly, this site will allow the student to obtain as soon as possible a package of three appointments of three quarters of an hour to an hour with a psychologist of his choice - this package can be renewed once.

The health professionals present on the platform will have previously signed an agreement with a university, responsible for the regulations.

"The university advances the costs and the State reimburses", we inform the ministry.

The objective is, in particular, to shorten the time for making appointments and to relieve congestion in saturated hospitals and medico-psychological centers (CMP).

Young people in distress: the signals to look out for, the numbers to dial

"In recent weeks, it has become more and more complicated to get an appointment in some cities," says Frederique Vidal.

“We will not do a classic follow-up.

It is rather a question of finding answers in the emergency, allowing them to deflate pressure, stress, anxieties linked to the health situation or isolation ”, explains Gladys Mondière, co-president of the French Federation of Psychologists and psychology (FFPP).

Nearly 1,300 psychologists already registered

For the time being, some 1,270 psychologists listed across France have volunteered to register on the platform.

"This list will grow richer, there will be a snowball effect," predicts Gladys Mondière.

These therapists are selected on the basis of their experience - each must have graduated at least three years ago - and all must also have an Adeli number (the national directory for the identification of health professionals).

They also agree to charge a single rate of 30 euros per session (lower than the usual rate, often around 50 to 60 euros).

"It is a way of getting involved, at our level, in the face of the crisis situation we are experiencing", assures Deborah Haddad-Baudry, psychologist in Paris (XIth) present on the platform.

“Some patients have the impression that they will never have the financial means to go to the psychologist.

The advantage of this device is that it is accessible to all ”, rejoices the shrink, who confides“ never to have worked as much ”as since the beginning of this health crisis.
