Now there is another new button that can be used to mute the sound of videos before they are sent.

initially only available to users of the beta version of the app, so all WhatsApp users can now access it on Android.

Just tap on the mute symbol before sending, "says the new update in the Google Play Store.
At Apple, the function is initially not listed in the current version in the app store.
New WhatsApp button on Android: Send videos without sound
In the Instagram app, which, like WhatsApp, belongs to the Facebook group, users have been able to choose for their stories for a long time whether they want to publish their videos with the original sound or rather muted.
This function is useful, for example, if you can hear annoying noises or inappropriate comments in the background.

If you want to determine for yourself whether the original sound of a video clip is intended for the recipient of the message or not, you can do so in the editing function of the app.
Text and stickers can be inserted here before the video is sent, the video can be cropped and, if necessary, muted thanks to the new button.
The duration of the video and the size of the file are indicated below the bar in which the editor displays the individual frames of the clip to be edited.
On the far left of these two pieces of information there is now a loudspeaker symbol: The sound can be switched on or off here.
If the loudspeaker is crossed out, the video will be played back without the sound after editing is complete.
New WhatsApp function: This is how forwarded videos can be muted
Muting only works for videos that you upload to the messenger service yourself, not for forwarded messages.
So if you want to send on a video that you have received from a colleague or friend, for example, without sound, you have to take a little detour.
Instead of simply forwarding the message as before, the video clip has to be uploaded again directly from the cell phone's own memory to the chat with the person who is to receive the video without sound.
WhatsApp usually automatically saves the videos you've watched in your phone's memory, so it's easy to find the video here.
After uploading, the procedure is the same as for a video you recorded yourself: Open the clip in the editor, mute it at the bottom left, save changes and send.
