US presenter Oprah Winfrey, actress Jane Fonda and the late NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson: The list of influential and impressive women who made it into the United States' National Women's Hall of Fame is long.
Now it is being expanded - including Michelle Obama.
The former first lady of the USA is “advocate, author, lawyer and 44th first lady of the United States” as well as “the first black woman to hold this office”, it is said in support of the statement, and: “Michelle Obama has become one of the most influential and most iconic women of the 21st century «.
Obama has become an advocate for healthy families, for the international education of adolescent girls, and serves as a role model for women and young girls everywhere.
In addition to Obama, the NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, who died in 2020, is to be inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.
Octavia Butler, Judy Chicago, Joy Harjo, Rebecca Halstead, Emily Howland, Indra Nooyi and Mia Hamm are also new to the circle of famous women.
According to its own account, the organization is dedicated to "recognizing the achievements of great American women."
