Penguin Ghetto (White-eared) is spotted by a group of tourists in the Straits of Gerlash, Antarctica, as he tries to escape a flock of deadly whales (also called orcas) that chase him and just before he loses his last strength - he manages to leap into one of the tourist devotion and escapes certain death.

The tourists watched the dramatic chase that took place around them and tried to help the penguin get on their rubber boat after the first time he tried to do so he collided with the end of the boat and found himself back in the water.

Seconds before the orc band managed to reach it, the penguin jumped for the second time into the boat and managed to get on it while the tourists cheered it on.

Starting moment:

Travel blogger Matt Carsten (40) and his wife Anna (32) were touring the glaciers in the Straits of Gerlash as a large band of orcs swam towards their boat.

At first the tourists thought the orcs were circling the boats because their presence intrigued them - but very quickly they discovered the real reason: the hungry guys learned that an innocent penguin was roaming the area.

In a video published this week on the Internet, the flightless bird is seen jumping out of the water again and again with the whales following it - in the most dramatic chase we have seen to date.

Killer whales are considered among the most deadly predators in the wild and have complex hunting techniques that include ways to find and subdue the prey.

They are the largest in the dolphin family and are therefore scientifically supposed to be called dolphins - however due to their enormous size they are called whales.

They can reach ten meters in length and weigh ten tons - relatively small for a whale and huge relative to a dolphin).

In contrast, the white-eared penguin rises to a height of 75 to 90 centimeters and weighs between 5 and 9 kg.

The penguin arrived at a safe place:

Matt, who has traveled the world and visited more than 50 countries since 2010, said: "It was crazy to see it happen live. It was like watching an episode of National Geographic happening around you. I imagine the penguin felt great relief when he managed to escape."

He recounted the dramatic moment: "We were out cruising between glaciers when suddenly a large group of whales appeared playing in the water around us. They swam up to the camera and said hello. Suddenly the orcs began to chase Penguin Ghetto. "He failed at first and fell back into the water, but on the second attempt he succeeded. The orcs continued to follow the boats for a while, but eventually they gave up and left the penguin safely with his new friends. After a short cruise, the penguin parted from the boat and jumped back into the icy water."
