"If we have a surplus of vaccines we will share it with the rest of the world": said Joe Biden at a press conference at the White House.
Biden reiterated that he will take care of the Americans first but that "we will not be definitively safe until the whole world is".
Biden confirmed that he has ordered the purchase of an additional 100 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine "because we need maximum flexibility" in the event of unforeseen challenges. The president spoke to the White House with CEOs of J&J and Merck to celebrate their alliance to accelerate vaccine production. "A heroic, patriotic effort, an almost unprecedented historical collaboration, like in times of war," he said. "A lot of things can happen, a lot of things can change. And we have to be ready," he explained.
