The Government reported
7,693 new cases
and
another 107 deaths
in the last 24 hours due to the coronavirus pandemic in Argentina.
The new report was known a week after the one year anniversary of the detection of the first contagion in the country.
With these figures, there are already
2,169,694
positive cases confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic, out of a total of 7,837,030 tests carried out.
This Wednesday, according to the official report, 154,695 patients are suffering from the disease throughout the country, of which
3,491 are admitted to intensive care
.
The ICU bed occupancy level remains stable, at an average of 54% nationwide and 59% in the AMBA.
The Province of Buenos Aires, which on Tuesday had exceeded 900 thousand confirmed cases, reported another
3,263 infections
in the last part
.
The City returned to close to 4 figures: it reported 934 new positives.
Córdoba (649), Santa Fe (509), Corrientes (334), Mendoza (248) and Tucumán (205) are other of the provinces that were most infected announced this Wednesday.
Almost half of the known deaths in the last 24 hours were patients living in the Province (29) and City (21).
Fatalities were reported in another 16 districts and the highest figures were in Santa Fe (12), Río Negro (8), Córdoba (7), Misiones (5), Tucumán (4), Corrientes (3), Entre Ríos (3), Santa Cruz (3) and Mendoza (3).
The total of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in the country thus amounted to
53,359
.
Meanwhile, as part of the investigation into the cause of the "VIP vaccination" in the Ministry of Health, declared this Wednesday the intellectual and journalist Beatriz Sarlo.
He assured that it was the wife of Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof, Soledad Quereilhac, who
offered him an early vaccination
against the coronavirus.
Sarlo testified before federal judge María Eugenia Capuchetti, who summoned her after she publicly told that she had been offered access to
Sputnik V
"from below the table"
at the beginning of the vaccination plan.
"The offer was at the end of January through my editor of Siglo XXI, Carlos Díaz. From what I understood, they were vaccinating to get photos that would persuade people," he told prosecutor Eduardo Taiano and Judge Capuchetti.
Governor Kicillof denied that the offer was "from the bottom of the table" and attributed the controversy "an absolutely rogue attack on my family and my wife."
Meanwhile, the vaccination plan continues with the aim of immunizing the population at risk, for the autumn.
According to data from the Public Vaccination Monitor, 1,774,438 doses have been applied so far - of almost 3 million that were distributed to the provinces and more than 4 million that arrived in the country - and almost 350 thousand people had received both doses.
After the queues, complaints and disorder on Tuesday in the vaccination of those over 80 in the City, this Wednesday the Buenos Aires Government increased the number of places, put chairs on the sidewalks for those who have to wait and expedited the procedures.
