Faced with the situation, government spokesman Gabriel Attal announced on Wednesday that confinement would be extended in the Alpes-Maritimes.

"The incidence rate remains high in the Alpes-Maritimes (...) the level of saturation in hospitals in Paca is still extremely high, for these reasons it was decided to extend the confinement to extend it this weekend" , announced Gabriel Attal.

A point will be made next week to "measure whether the dynamics of reduction in the incidence and the epidemic in the department continues", and allow "in this case (to) be able to consider lifting the measure".

As a reminder, that which entered into force in Dunkirk on February 27, initially until March 7, was extended until Sunday March 28.

"This is already the case for other regions," said Gabriel Attal at the end of the Council of Ministers, insisting on the necessary mobilization of "all the forces available to welcome the sick", especially in the private sector.
