Support the population of rural areas in the context of current emergencies with food donations, social and health services and initiatives aimed at promoting the inclusion of people in conditions of economic, social and geographical fragility.
These are the objectives of the collaboration agreement signed between the Italian Red Cross and the Italian CIA-Farmers, in order to create real virtuous community networks, where the value of socio-working inclusion is combined with the importance of good practices for productivity and development of the territory.
A year of pandemic has produced numerous inequalities in Italy, the CIA recalls, the incidence of new poor has gone from 31% to 45% with 2 million more families at risk of poverty and an increase of more than 100% in the number of people who they turned, for the first time, to charities and voluntary associations.
Average household spending plummeted by 9% in 2020, returning to the levels of 21 years ago.
Furthermore, Covid has exacerbated the criticalities of health and social assistance services, in particular in the internal areas of the country which represent more than 50% of the national surface.
Faced with all this, the agreement between the Red Cross and the CIA aims to give useful and concrete answers, starting to collaborate on awareness-raising actions, specific training in response to the emergency;
synergistic activities to combat food poverty;
health education and promotion of health and healthy lifestyles;
programs and projects to support categories in particular disadvantaged or vulnerable conditions, such as the elderly.
