Few hours left.

This Thursday at 11:59 p.m., it will no longer be possible to make wishes on Parcoursup.

What real impact has the pandemic had?

Contacted, the Ministry of Higher Education indicates that, compared to last year, the data (number of wishes and candidates) show a “normal, no alert” trend.

In 2019/2020, 950,000 young people had expressed their wishes, covering just over 17,000 training courses.

Beyond the statistics, the virus has had an effect.

“It is even more difficult for future baccalaureate holders to project themselves than before.

The health context weighs on them and they echo the isolation and distress of their elders in university, ”notes Catherine Bas, psychologist from National Education at the Amiens-Nord information and guidance center ( Somme) and syndicated to Snes-FSU.

Our three points of attention

A year turned upside down by the Covid-19.

Virus obliges, the fairs of the orientation and many open doors of establishments are held virtually.

In addition, distance courses every other day in most high schools complicate contact with psychologists from the National Education.

"The students have less time to see them, while the hours were already reduced in the establishments before the coronavirus", explains Mathieu Devlaminck, president of the National Union of high school students, the main high school union.

Lucie, in terminal near Lyon, describes a disturbed orientation.

“I haven't seen my principal teacher for a month,” she regrets.

She couldn't help me with Parcoursup, so I'm on my own, looking for info on the Internet.

The BTS tourism attracts less.

The ministry indicates that it is too early to give consolidated statistics on the sectors acclaimed, or not, by future students.

But the high school for hospitality, catering and tourism professions in Chamalières (Puy-de-Dôme) is already claiming that some courses hit hard by the pandemic are those that have least appealed.

If the BTS in the hotel and catering industry is still attracting as much, requests for the BTS tourism are down sharply with 532 wishes against 931 in 2020. “The situation looks more difficult in the long term for long-distance tourism and work in travel agencies, comments the principal François Traulle.

Future high school graduates are worried.

"On the other hand, the latter notes that the hotel and catering industry, a sector which has adapted to the crisis with take-away sales," reassures "young people.

The golden rules to respect.

“High school students must register several training wishes.

They will fall back on their feet if one of their choices is not accepted, ”advises Catherine Bas.

Thus, Parcoursup allows you to make up to 10 wishes, or 10 training sessions.

And, for each wish, final year students can complete up to 10 sub-wishes, that is to say 10 different establishments where they follow the same course.

“In addition to the orientation that we favor, we must consider other avenues,” recalls our expert.

One type of study can open up a lot of job possibilities and, conversely, to get to a job, there are plenty of paths.

She also encourages checking that the vows entered are entered correctly.

In case of doubt, do not hesitate to obtain confirmation from the advisers of the Parcoursup site, reachable in the contact section.

Finally, the wishes are not set in stone at midnight March 11.

They are just added.

It is then possible, until April 8, to complete your file and confirm or not your wishes.
