Evangelical pastor Luis Palau died this Thursday after suffering from lung cancer that had been diagnosed three years ago.
A Protestant preacher who drew crowds - as in a celebrated festival organized in the Obelisk in 2008 - Palau was a prolific author and bestseller of books on religion and self-help.
"The world evangelical community unites in prayer thanking him for his life and asking for consolation for his family and friends," said former MP Cynthia Hotton, in a statement that confirmed the news.
“For all those around the world who joined in prayer for more than three years, when Luis Palau was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, and they gave him 6 to 10 months to live, you will remember that he recorded a video saying; 'I'm ready to give the present, When There is a roll call, the day the Lord decides it,' ”Hotton paraphrased, on the sayings he had received a few days ago from the Latin team Luis Palau.
The Protestant preacher and pastor, considered among the most influential Spanish-speaking faith leaders in the world, was born in Ingeniero Maschwitz and years ago had been a US citizen.
The headquarters of his religious association is located in Portland, Oregon, where Palau had been admitted to a hospital for palliative care.
