Five weeks after the establishment of compelling reasons for travel outside the European area, this regime will be amended.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is a question of taking into account the international epidemic evolution but also of adding a certain number of emergency situations which constitute compelling reasons.
In a decree to be published on Friday March 12, it will no longer be necessary to justify a compelling reason for travel to or from Australia, South Korea, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Singapore.
This can be explained by the fact that the British variant now circulates mainly in France or “because of the specific health situation of these countries”.
The list of compelling and personal reasons has been expanded
For travel to and from these countries, however, other traffic restrictions remain in force.
The presentation of a negative PCR test less than 72 hours before departure is still very necessary.
"Consulting the Travel Advice website is particularly recommended and it is strongly recommended to limit international travel as much as possible", specifies the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, the list of compelling and personal reasons has been extended to include all family relationships but also to add new situations linked to family estrangement.
This is particularly the case for married couples and civil partnerships but one of whose members is established abroad for professional reasons or for minor children attending school in France when the family home is established abroad and the couples with children, one living in France, the other abroad and separated.
Finally, students in a situation of taking a competitive examination are also added to the list as well as returns to the main residence when it is established in France.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specifies that the models of exceptional certificates for international travel will be updated accordingly.
