(ANSA) - COSENZA, MARCH 11 - The administration of the anti Covid-19 vaccine in the vaccine center managed by the Army in Cosenza has been suspended, after the Aifache communication has banned the use of doses belonging to the ABV2856 batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The vaccine injected into the school staff today belongs to the lot indicated in the communication from the Italian Medicines Agency.
According to what has been learned, 173 patients have been administered the vaccine belonging to the blocked batch who will now be followed up by pharmacovigilance by the Cosenza ASP.
"Patients are under observation as per procedure and will report the onset of any side effects.
I would like to clarify that this is a precautionary withdrawal because there is a correlation between the administration of the vaccine and a negative event, but there is no certainty that the vaccine administered has triggered the negative event ". This was said by Dr. Martino Rizzo, health director of the Asp of Cosenza regarding the doses of AstraZeneca vaccine belonging to batch ABV2856 withdrawn from AIFA.
"We are already taking steps - added Rizzo - to replace the vaccine doses in such a way as not to block the vaccination campaign.
The doses of AstraZeneca vaccine belonging to the blocked batch were delivered exclusively to a vaccination center managed by the Italian Army ".
