The arrival in the markets of the first asparagus and strawberries this week is the sign of spring just around the corner.
Two products that stand out in the ranking drawn up by La Borsa della Spesa dei Bmti on the data collected in the wholesale markets of the Italmercati network of companies.
Two products that have been affected in some way by the climate of recent months.
Asparagus has wholesale prices above the seasonal average, ranging between 4 and 5 euros / kilo, because the increase in demand is not yet accompanied by a fairly high production due to low night temperatures.
For strawberries, on the other hand, the increase in production has led to a drop in the price that fluctuates between 4 and 5 euros / kilo.
Analyzing the other productions, at the top of the La Borsa della Spesa ranking for good quality and medium-low prices there are cauliflowers ranging from 0.70 to 1.20 euros / kilo for which there has been a drop in demand typical of this season. Radicchio, whose production is running low, is also doing well because the increase in temperature is rapidly leading to the flowering of the product, limiting its production. As for fruit, on the other hand, there are tarocco blood oranges that are excellent for juicing, thanks to their quality, with average prices for larger sizes ranging from 1.20 to 1.50 euros / kilo.
