What awaits us at the holiday table?

Of all the Israeli holidays, there is no holiday more associated with wine than Passover: during the Seder meal we are commanded to drink four glasses of wine as part of the reading of the Haggadah, and of course a good wine will go great with the delicious meal we prepare (or eat where we are hosted).

There are many wine issues ahead of the holiday, so here are some answers to the burning difficulties:

How many bottles of wine to buy?

Each standard wine bottle contains 4 glasses (187.5 ml per glass). For a meal of 10 adults, it is recommended to buy 3-4 bottles of wine (roughly 1-2 full glasses per diner). Of course, do not forget to buy mustard for children, and if it is wine lovers Seriously with high capacity you can buy

more.Do you need to cool the wine?

White wines are recommended to cool the day before opening, red wines can be kept at room temperature and just open. What

type of wine is recommended for a seder meal?

Since there is a wide variety of dishes served at the meal, it is also advisable to vary the types of wines, and purchase half white and half red so that each diner can find a wine that is more connected to it.

How long are open wine bottles kept in the refrigerator?

Once opened wine bottles are kept refrigerated for up to a week for drinking, after which they are good for cooking.

Do you have to go to a wine shop especially to find good wines?

If in previous years wine and alcohol lovers had to separate food shopping from holiday liquor and wine shopping in a dedicated store, this year Shufersal offers a huge variety of quality alcohol brands and even exclusive and new wines, so in one round you can mark V for all shopping for the festive meal.

New wines for the holiday at a special launch at Shufersal

In preparation for the holiday, the Shufersal chain is collaborating with two of the most popular wineries in the country: the Galilee Mountains Winery and the Golan Heights Winery, and is launching four new, wonderful and rich wines, which are perfect to glorify your holiday table.

The new wines join the wide and rich variety of wines available in the branches, which contains both accessible and light wines at particularly equal promotions, as well as luxury wines that can be developed in-depth discussions into the night.

The new wines of the Galilee Mountains Winery

GALIL Cabernet 2018 -

a dry red wine from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the vineyards' sustainable vineyards in the Upper Galilee.

This is a rich and flavorful wine, aged in oak barrels before being bottled, one that is fun to pour alongside respectable main courses like roast beef and lamb shoulder or rich beef stews like goulash.

GALIL Gewurztraminer 2020 -

a white, semi-dry wine produced from Gewurztraminer grapes.

In recent years, wines produced from this white and aromatic variety have gained great popularity in the country, and this wine, which came from sustainable vineyards in the Upper Galilee, is especially fun (even for those unfamiliar with wine): aromatic, pleasant to drink and with a delicate sweetness that is very easy to like.

It is great with entrees (gefilte, harima and with a variety of salads) and also with desserts.

Prices for the new wines: up to 65 NIS per bottle, and 2 bottles for 110 NIS.

The new wines of the Golan Heights Winery

This is a semi-dry wine (that is, slightly sweet), 100% varieties, from high vineyards in the Golan Heights that provide the variety with optimal conditions for prosperity.

This is a wonderful and light wine, with lots of happy aromas, one that is fun to pour into guests even before you start reading the Haggadah.

At meal he will go great alongside oven-roasted cauliflower and leek patties.

Gamla Blanco 2020 -

a dry white wine that contains a surprising and non-traditional combination of Sauvignon Blanc and Canley Muscat, two varieties that are very well known for their special and pleasant aromas.

The grapes come from high vineyards in the Golan Heights.

An excellent wine to open alongside main and first courses with a delicate taste, such as oven-roasted fish, stuffed artichokes or juicy chicken patties.
