Aldi and Lidl were unable to withstand the rush of customers for long because of the new corona self-tests in retail.
In some markets there will soon be supplies for this.
Munich - Anyone who has not yet received a vaccination against the corona virus and still wants to see loved ones again with a good feeling has certainly waited for the cheap corona self-tests in the supermarkets.
Knowing that you are unlikely to be contagious too high, you could be much more relaxed outside your own living space and visit people who belong to the risk group.
However, the legitimate expectations and hopes of consumers were quickly dampened.
Some of the self-tests at Aldi were sold out within just 15 minutes.
Discounter Lidl's website could hardly cope with the onslaught of the internet, and the servers collapsed.
An alternative was almost only Ebay classifieds, where the test kits were offered for second sale at significantly higher prices.
The portal then proceeded against the offers.

Corona self-tests: Some retailers are now being cautious
Since neither Aldi nor Lidl can currently offer replenishment, the tests are only available in pharmacies.
However, these are also offered more expensive there.
As the
Spiegel
now reports, the largest drugstores and discounters are now behaving nervously and are still quite covered when it comes to what is on offer.
Netto and Edeka would pile up and only offer the corona self-tests "with availability".
This is to avoid false promises.
According to
Der Spiegel,
Rossmann and Müller have
decided on a start date.
Dm, however, has already had to postpone the targeted target day.
The test manufacturers are also apparently not yet known to many retailers.
While Lidl and Rossmann are probably being supplied by “Boson Biotech”, Aldi’s test manufacturer is “Aesku”.
Dm relies on "Hotgen".
All tests are done with a nasal swab.
