Covid: cases and deaths drop, but over 3,000 in resuscitation

The positives and the victims of the coronavirus in Italy have dropped in the last 24 hours, but with almost 100,000 tampons less, as usual on Sunday. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 14 - The positives and victims of the coronavirus in Italy have dropped in the last 24 hours, but with almost 100 million fewer tampons, as usual on Sunday.

Intensive care patients, on the other hand, return to exceed 3,000 units, with another 243 admissions to resuscitation in one day.


    21,315 cases have been registered since yesterday, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 26,062.

The victims are 264, yesterday there were 317.


    The daily balance between entries and exits from intensive therapy is 100 more patients, bringing the total to 3,082.


   The peak of hospitalizations in intensive care was reached on April 3 last year with 4,068 patients.


    In the ordinary wards (pneumatology and infectious diseases) the patients increased by 365 units compared to yesterday, bringing the total to 24,518.


    273,966 molecular and antigenic swabs were carried out in the last 24 hours, while yesterday the tests were 372,944, almost 100,000 more.

The positivity rate (positive / test ratio) today is 7.78%, yesterday it was 6.98%, so today it is up by about 0.8%.


    The total cases since the beginning of the epidemic are 3,223,142, the deaths 102,145.

The currently positive are 531,266 (+11,205 compared to yesterday), the discharged and healed 2,589,731 (+9,835), in home isolation there are 503,666 people (+10,740).
