How long can the country avoid confinement?

The question is eminently health.

It has also been political since the government decided to extend the deadline as late as possible.

This Sunday, the health authorities report 26,343 new covid-19 contaminations identified in the past 24 hours.

If the health authorities must correct a bug that somewhat overestimates the number of new infections, as revealed by Le Parisien, the figures nevertheless bear witness to the strong circulation of the virus in the territory.

As a reminder, the report published on Saturday announced 29,759 new infections, a figure that has risen sharply over one week.

Last Sunday, Public Health France announced 21,825 contaminations detected in the space of 24 hours.

4,127 patients in intensive care

At the same time, 140 new deaths linked to the virus have been recorded in the last 24 hours, against 174 on Saturday and 130 last Sunday.

The number of covid-19 patients who died in hospital for the first time crossed the threshold of 65,000 deaths since the start of the epidemic (65,118) to be precise.

Still in the hospital, 24,989 coronavirus patients are still being treated this Sunday for an infection with the new coronavirus, against 24,671 on Saturday and 24,818 last Sunday.

Among them, 4,127 suffer from a serious form of the disease which requires treatment within the intensive care unit.

It has been four days now that the bar of 4,000 patients treated in specialized services has been crossed.

5,072,244 doses of the anti-Covid vaccine have been injected into the arms of the French since the start of the vaccination campaign, according to figures arrested on Saturday and published on Sunday.

A total of 2,220,608 people received the two doses needed for definitive vaccination with the vaccines currently in use.
