Quick personal consequences after allegations of abuse of power and sexual harassment: Klaus Dörr, currently director at the Berliner Volksbühne, has ended his job.
The Berlin Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer (Linke) and Dörr have agreed on this.
This emerges from a communication by Dörr that the theater published on Monday.
It also says that Dörr takes full responsibility for the allegations made against him.
This was preceded by an article in the Berlin daily newspaper "taz";
It says that several women had complained about Dörr to Themis, the Berlin office of trust against sexual harassment and violence.
Among other things, it was about verbal intimidation, sexist slogans, inappropriate SMS and upskirting, i.e. secret photography under the skirt.
Neither Dörr nor the Senator for Culture specifically addressed the allegations in their statement.
The Berliner Volksbühne is one of the most important theaters in the country.
Dörr took over the management three years ago after quarrels about his predecessor.
After the turbulent times he was supposed to temporarily run the theater while the director search was ongoing.
The director René Pollesch should take over the house in a few months.
