It must have been a blast that evening in the Carter house.

US singer Beyoncé collected her 28th award at the Grammy Awards, setting a new record.

In addition to Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, her full name, daughter Blue Ivy Carter also won a prize.

The nine-year-old won the best music video award.

However, she got it together with her mother.

Beyoncé has now won more Grammys than any other musician, announced the organizers at the gala on Monday night in Los Angeles.

So far, the US singer and fiddle player Alison Krauss had held this record with her 27 Grammys.

The 28th award for Beyoncé came in the category "Best R&B Performance" for "Black Parade".

"I'm so honored and excited," said the singer.

It is a "magical night".

The 63rd presentation of the Grammys, which are among the most coveted music prizes in the world, should originally have taken place at the end of January, but was postponed to March due to the worsening Corona situation in Los Angeles.

Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners in more than 80 categories.

US R&B singer HER won a Grammy for her song about racism in the United States.

The 23-year-old musician received the coveted US music award for the best song of the year on Sunday evening.

The piece "I Can't Breathe" ("I can't breathe") was created in the course of the protests against police violence against black people in the USA.

The title picks up on a sentence by the police force killed African American George Floyd, which became a motto of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish also won awards

Pop singer Taylor Swift won the Grammy for the best record of the year.

The album "Folklore" was the first of a total of two that the artist recorded during the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic.

The award in the category Recording of the Year went to 19-year-old Billie Eilish for her hit "Everything I Wanted".

US rapper Megan Thee Stallion won the award for best new artist at the start of the event.

“I don't want to start crying.

Everyone nominated in this category is so great, ”she said.

Because of the pandemic, the Grammy gala took place with a mixture of video switching and live performances.

German Grammy hopes were not fulfilled: the pianist Igor Levit had to admit defeat to the US violist Richard O'Neill with his recording of the complete Beethoven sonatas in the category “Best Classical Instrumental Solo”, as did the violinist Augustin Hadelich and the symphony orchestra of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation.

The Frankfurt Radio Big Band and the orchestra and choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin also failed to win any prize in the jazz and opera categories in which they were nominated.
