Green light for self-tests.
The Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) spoke out on Tuesday in favor of the use of Covid-19 self-tests in certain cases.
In an opinion delivered on Tuesday, the HAS notably recommends their use "in asymptomatic people over 15 years of age in the context of restricted use in the private sphere" or "in asymptomatic people over 15 years old, in the large-scale targeted iterative screening ”.
In the event of a positive self-test, the result should then be confirmed by a PCR test.
As suggested by Jérôme Salomon, the Director General of Health, these self-tests should therefore soon be available in France.
It remains to be seen at what price they will be marketed, if they will be reimbursed and where they can be found (pharmacies, supermarkets, etc.).
As an indication, the one we had tested costs between 5 and 7 euros in the countries where it is sold.
Already available elsewhere (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, etc.), these tests are antigenic tests that you can do yourself and the results of which are available in about 20 minutes.
Another advantage is that the protocol is less unpleasant since the swab is introduced less deeply.
While waiting for these tests to arrive on the French market, Xavier Guérin, president of Innova Europe, which manufactures self-tests currently used in several countries, lent himself to the game of demonstration.
