The transition season is closer than ever, Passover marks the coming of spring, just around the corner and with it the change of seasons that often cause allergies that can manifest in several ways - from irritation around the eyes, tearing and allergic rhinitis and also skin rashes and shortness of breath.

"Skin allergy is a common phenomenon, it occurs regularly in the same people and can be a real nuisance to the quality of life," explains Dr. Lehabit Ackerman, a dermatologist. She says one of the symptoms that can worsen this season is atopic dermatitis (asthma). "In infants and young children (but also in adults with a tendency to do so) the skin rash is mainly manifested by redness and dryness in the facial area, elbow and knee folds, although the rest of the body also suffers from considerable redness and dandruff, accompanied by itching."

"We all got to know the feeling that the protective mask causes sweating all over the surface and with the rise in temperatures outside, quite a few side effects can be discovered," explains Dr. Ackerman. "The mask makes the skin much less ventilated and it produces a moist, warm and closed area. Conditions that encourage the development of infections on the skin and the aggravation of rashes. "

Here are some tips for protecting your skin from atopic dermatitis:

1. Pay attention to the number of times you shower or rinse your face.

Baths should be minimized both in terms of frequency and duration of bathing.

It is advisable to take short showers with a mild soap like a shower gel.

Immediately after bathing, apply a moisturizer containing glycerin to prevent dryness and thermal water that can help soothe the skin and reduce itching.

Also try showering with lukewarm, non-boiling water.

2. Wear ventilated clothing that is made of cotton only and not synthetic.

In small children, it is also advisable to cut the nails well, so that they do not injure themselves due to the itching.

3. Avoid using wet wipes as much as possible

, especially if the skin is irritated and red.

The area should be washed with mild soap and water.

4. Keep your lips moisturized.

Some of the more bothersome symptoms in older people this season, and especially in women, are cracks in the lips and around the mouth.

It is recommended to use several times a day moisturizing lipsticks and vice versa, to reduce the use of blushes.

5. Try to change the care routine

and use products with a light texture or gel texture, products that are easily absorbed and do not leave fat on the skin.

This change gives a better feeling with the mask and will also allow ventilation of the skin, prevent the accumulation of fat and makeup on the surface of the skin in moist conditions, which can produce an unpleasant appearance combined with an unpleasant feeling to the touch.

Also this condition can encourage exacerbation of rashes like acne and irritations.

6. In severe cases, consult a doctor

to get a prescription drug such as an antihistamine or a spread that contains active ingredients.
