Commit the Government to "urgently provide for the recognition of Italian citizenship for Patrick Zaki", in accordance with the provisions of Law 91/92 and "to work more vigorously in all European and international fora so that Egypt provides, without further delay, upon release ".
This is the goal of a motion just presented to first signature by senators Francesco Verducci, vice president of the Culture and Education Commission, Liliana Segre, senator for life, Valeria Fedeli, Loredana De Petris, Monica Cirinnà, Roberta Pinotti, Anna Rossomando, Alessandro Alfieri , Francesco Giacobbe, Dario Parrini, Paola Nugnes, Daniela Sbrollini, Maria Saponara, Matteo Richetti, Loredana Russo, Albert Laniece, Michela Montevecchi, Valeria Valente and many others.
The motion recalls that Law 91/92 allows foreigners to be recognized as Italian citizens with a Decree of the President of the Republic, after hearing the Council of State and following a resolution of the Cdm, for "eminent services rendered to Italy or when there is an exceptional interest of the State ".
An interest configured, according to the motion, by the "dramatic condition of the Egyptian student, subjected to unjust imprisonment and inhuman conditions by a regime that systematically violates the rights of political dissidents".
