The Dresden Regional Court has sentenced a 38-year-old to a prison sentence of 13 years and three months for serious sexual abuse of several children.

It also ordered subsequent preventive detention.

In its judgment, the chamber was convinced that the accused posed a great danger to the general public even after serving his imprisonment.

The man had about two babies who were only a few months old at the time of the offense due to his acts of violence, said the presiding judge Andreas Ziegel.

The 38-year-old was also convicted of distributing child pornography, robbery and particularly serious sexual abuse.

The defendant from the Meissen area reportedly abused several children, including the two infants, and filmed his actions.

He published the recordings in relevant forums on the Internet.

In addition, he himself helped set up and run such a forum on the Darknet around ten years ago.

In the Darknet, the IP address is technically anonymized via a long server chain, and users can no longer be identified.

The defendant was targeted by the authorities through the international cooperation of police departments, so that investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office were able to decipher the man's identity in the spring of last year.

In May he was overpowered and arrested by special forces in front of the running computer in his apartment in Niederau near Meißen.

The defendant made a comprehensive confession in police interrogations and in the main hearing, which lasted almost two months.

With its decision, the court followed the prosecution's request.

The judgment is already final.
