"WHO and EMA experts are examining data on cases of blood clots in people who had been vaccinated with AstraZeneca and will come to the conclusion this week whether some or all of the conditions were related to vaccination or caused by other causative factors. ".

The WHO Europe underlines this on Twitter, reiterating that "the number of serious events occurring as a result of vaccines against Covid-19 9 was extremely low compared to the millions of vaccinated. It is important that vaccination campaigns continue, to prevent serious illnesses".

EMA's assessment of thromboembolic events reported after the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine in European countries is expected tomorrow, Thursday 18 March.

Draghi heard from Macron yesterday

: they both share the hope for a prompt resumption of administration.

"The Italian government considers vaccines the first real key to closing this season, what has happened in the last few hours does not break our confidence, the vaccination campaign therefore goes on and will have to accelerate even with the increase in the doses that we will have available. 'the hope is that an answer from EMA will arrive from tomorrow. We have the utmost confidence and demand the highest level of safety ", said Health Minister Roberto Speranza, in a hearing at the meeting of the Social Affairs Committees of the Chamber and Senate.

"The hope - said Minister Speranza - is that reassurances will arrive from tomorrow to relaunch the vaccination campaign. In the second quarter we will have over 50 million doses and in the third quarter we will have 80 million doses expected, this means that we could have a very significant acceleration ".

"In the next few hours we are working on two regulatory measures: one to encourage

the involvement of pharmacies and nurses in the vaccination campaign

and to facilitate its acceleration", adds Speranza.

"The first axis - explained Speranza - concerns the strengthening of local services to ensure the collectability of the Lea. Implementing local assistance means mitigating health poverty. Another point of the first axis is the community house which will be a health center for give answers: an ecg, a consultation on health on children, will be a network that will reorganize fragmented structures now on the territory ".

"Investing in the digital transformation of our health system - continued the minister - is a priority and a job that must start from the very heart of the system. What is needed is a computer center to process the large amount of data available, also for the construction of scenarios. These months have taught us the importance of predictive models, therefore it is necessary to build a single model ".
