Covid: Germany closed 2,300 schools last week

(ANSA) - BERLIN, 18 MAR - In Germany, due to Covid, about 2,300 schools were closed last week.

The figure, however partial, registered on 23,000 institutions (in the country, including professional ones, there are 40,000), was released today by the Conference of Education Ministers.


   About 18,600 institutions offer face-to-face lessons with limitations.

According to the Laender, writes the Dpa, last week there were 28,000 schoolchildren in quarantine, and 4,000 were affected by the virus (the previous week they were 3,000).

There are 11 million schoolchildren in Germany.


    On the teachers front, 929 cases of Coronavirus were recorded (773 seven days earlier), and 3,300 in quarantine, out of a total of 870,000.

The Robert Koch Institut has reported in recent days that Covid is spreading in Germany particularly fast under the age of 15.

Schools and kindergartens remained closed due to the lockdown from 16 December until mid-February.
