Victim of rape at just 15 years old, then violated again by the drug dealer the night she risked dying from an overdose in 2018 and the admission that she was not completely out of alcohol and drug addiction.

Demi Lovato, 28, has long since ceased to be the carefree teenager Mitchie Torres in Disney's Camp Rock, and in a new docu-series world-premiered at SXSW (South by Southwest) festival, she has revealed aspects of her life that they look rather pulled out of a horror movie.

The four-part documentary is directed by Michael D. Ratner and takes its name from 'Dancing with the Devil ... the Art of Starting Over', Lovato's seventh album due for release on April 2nd.

Like a Pandora's box, Lovato opens to reveal the joys, traumas, pains of an existence lived in the spotlight since she was only ten years old.

Her overdose in 2018, due to which she had three strokes and a heart attack and now with a brain damage that prevents her from driving or reading correctly, becomes the starting point in the series to then talk about traumatic episodes such as violence. sexual at 15 or the drug dealer who took advantage of his unconscious state during the overdose.

"I know what I'm about to say will be shocking - she says in the series - but when I was a teenager I found myself in a similar situation (sexual assault by her hustler, ed). I lost my virginity through rape" .

"We were dating - he continues - but I told him I wouldn't go anywhere because I was a virgin and I didn't want to lose her like that. But it didn't matter, it happened anyway".

The singer did not disclose the name of her attacker however she did mention a person in the Disney entourage.

"It's my #MeToo story" - he explained - as well as saying that this person has not suffered repercussions.

She was not removed from the cast of the film she was a part of.

The documentary, which will air on YouTube from March 23, also includes appearances of, among others, Elton John, Christina Aguilera and the former Disney star's own family.

Regarding her addiction to alcohol or drugs, Lovato said that quitting all of a sudden didn't work for her and that she now indulges in a few drinks and smokes marijuana but in moderation.
