Israel is among the countries that are vaccinating its citizens at the fastest rate.

Accordingly, those citizens are also likely to be among the first in the world to be able to try and return to a local and overseas tourism routine, as far as the situation allows.

A recent study by the global holiday booking site Booking, found that more than three-quarters (77%) of Israeli travelers said they longed for a moment when they could travel and travel again.

Now, as the vaccination campaign progresses, and as summer approaches, it seems that Israelis are really not wasting time to secure a vacation this coming summer.

More than a third (35%) of them indicated that they want to travel even more than before, to make up for lost time in 2020.

Although the ranking also includes some international destinations, it seems that Eilat still continues to be the most attractive tourist destination that Israelis want to visit, leading the list of sought-after destinations in the world that Israelis have been looking for this coming summer.

Immediately after Eilat on the global list, another local destination appears and that is the city of Tel Aviv, which climbed from tenth place on this list from last year.

This rating indicates that despite the rapid pace of vaccinations, Israelis still prefer to spend time close to home before squinting out.

The study also found that more than two-fifths (43%) of Israeli travelers plan to discover a new destination in their area or country, with half of Israelis (50%) saying they want to take their time and enjoy nature where they live.

The international destination that Israelis dream of: London

While it is still unclear how and how it will be possible to travel outside of Israel, there is a feeling that the situation may be possible when the government approves safe routes to follow, when looking at third place the picture is already changing.

The international destination that Israelis dream of, which is among the most searched for a vacation during the summer, is the capital of England, London.

It seems that even though Israelis appreciate what is familiar and close, they still want and expect to go on trips to the other side of the world.

Accordingly, a quarter of Israelis (25%) also indicated that they intend to travel to a place far by the end of 2021, compared to only 6% who said they would do so by the end of 2020.

How far?

In fourth place is this trend, with a much more remote and much-loved city for Israelis, New York, which rose from 12th place compared to last year.

The biggest jump was made by the target that took fifth place.

This is Dubai, which following the normalization agreements with Israel has become a popular tourist destination among Israelis, having risen from 191st place last year.

Crete only in eighth place

In places 6-8 of the destinations that Israelis searched for, you can see cities in neighboring countries that Israelis like to "jump" to for short vacation outings - Paphos in Cyprus, Istanbul in Turkey and Crete in Greece, respectively.

In ninth place on the list of expectations and dreams of Israelis is Amsterdam in the Netherlands, which is expected to attract many travelers, as long as it is safe, when it hosts the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in May.

The opening ten is closed by the romantic city of Europe, Paris, which jumped one place and entered the top ten after being ranked 11th last year.

Two other interesting data that emerge from the list of destinations that most Israelis have been looking for this coming summer, focus on the boot country and the north of our country.

Kibbutz Ein Gev, located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, took 12th place, after climbing a long way straight from 101st place on last year's list.

The Italian city of Milan, which recently entered another closure, was ranked 15th on the list of destinations Israelis searched for from June to September, after being ranked far behind 39th last year.

Where did the Israelis actually order?

In the list of invitations, the Israelis chose to give Tel Aviv the first place as a destination to which the most reservations were made during the last period.

Also, in contrast to the list that dealt with the search above, this time Eilat alternates with Tel Aviv and takes second place on the list.

Jerusalem, Haifa and the Ein Bokek area occupy the 5th-5th places respectively in the list of most invited local destinations.

Mitzpe Ramon is in sixth place, with those who close the list of the top ten being Ein Gev in ninth place and Tiberias in tenth place.

When we look at the international destinations where Israelis have already booked a future vacation for themselves, it can be seen that Dubai leads the list, followed by: Istanbul, London, New York, Kiev, Amsterdam, Paris, Athens and Vienna.

At the top of the list of types of accommodation chosen by Israelis in bookings made by them in Israel and abroad from the beginning of the vaccination campaign until the end of January, there are of course the hotels. Accommodation in descending order

"Israeli destinations that have gone through a difficult year in the tourism aspect are beginning to show a recovery," says Dr. Itzik Mizrahi, Director of Booking Israel.

"For example, according to the data, it seems that Tel Aviv will have a great demand this year for the summer, when it joins the increase in demand experienced by Eilat."

He said it was important to remember that there are still restrictions on many destinations around the world and that government guidelines regarding travel and recreation should continue to be followed safely.

For those who have not yet secured their place instead of hosting future, you may want to choose packages that include a flexible policy to ensure that if something unexpected happens it will be possible to modify plans easily. "
