A Netflix account can be shared happily by multiple users.
Now the service is stepping up against it.
Does this mean the end of account sharing?
Munich - Netflix has long been a thorn in the side of users who share their accounts with people who do not live in their household.
This widespread behavior, which is contrary to the terms and conditions, causes the streaming provider to lose a lot of money.
Netflix account sharing: made impossible by a security query?
After much hesitation, Netflix now seems to be getting serious.
According to
Chip.de,
some users who share an account with another person receive
an additional security
query
when they log in.
To complete the process, you have to enter a code that will be sent to the telephone number or email address stored in the account.

If the code is not entered or is entered too late because the actual subscriber does not react, the user is trapped.
He is asked to create his own account.
After all, he is offered a 30-day trial subscription, which is actually no longer available in Germany.
Netflix: Success of action against account sharers uncertain
According to Chip.de, only a few users still seem to receive the security query when logging in.
But that could change if the process shows positive results for Netflix.
However, it is uncertain whether the streaming service will do itself well.
Affected people could react angrily and switch to a competitor such as Disney + or Amazon Prime Video.
