(ANSA) - VENICE, 18 MAR - Venice is moving towards the use of drones and other remotely piloted vehicles to experiment with 'Urban Delivery' and 'Urban Air Mobility' systems, capable of facilitating connections in the delicate lagoon fabric, also characterized by many islands.
A protocol signed between the City Council of Venice and ENAC, the national body of civil aviation, tends to this.
In particular, the Intesa protocol sanctions the collaboration between ENAC and the City of Venice "to promote the use of intelligent Urban delivery systems with drones to identify the operational conditions useful for the definition by ENAC of a regulatory framework, shared with the Municipality, which considers the fragile equilibrium of the lagoon territory and which preserves the historical, cultural and environmental heritage of the city ".
It also provides for the definition of ways of developing urban operations through the experimentation and use of 'U Space' services for drones.
"Drones will increasingly be a fundamental tool for controlling the territory, for public safety but also for allowing the connection between the many islands of the lagoon and those who live there".
said the Councilor for the Environment Massimiliano De Martin.
