In the trial of the aircraft accident with three dead on the Wasserkuppe, the Fulda district court sentenced the accused pilot to a six-month suspended prison sentence for negligent homicide.
The probation period is two years, said a court spokesman.
The court did not impose any conditions on the 58-year-old from Ludwigshafen in Rhineland-Palatinate, as the defendant had announced that he would voluntarily pay 5,000 euros to the father of the two children killed in the accident and the chamber expected that he would do the same said the spokesman.
The judgment is already final because all those involved have waived an appeal.
In the accident in October 2018, the pilot shot a small propeller plane over the runway on Hesse's highest mountain.
The Cessna had hit a 39-year-old woman and her two eleven and twelve-year-old children on the sidewalk across the street and fatally injured them.
Since the beginning of February, the man had to answer for negligent homicide and negligent endangerment of air traffic in court.
The children's father appeared as a joint plaintiff at the trial.
According to the indictment, the aircraft had exceeded the maximum take-off weight.
During the landing approach, the pilot landed the small aircraft on the runway at significantly excessive speed.
Only after a significant delay did he initiate a go-around maneuver.
