(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 19 - A bill for the "Promotion of coexistence with large carnivores in Italy and their protection" has been deposited in the Senate, which intends to give the State full ownership of the management of bears and wolves.
This was announced by the animal welfare NGO Lav with a statement.
The bill is signed by representatives of all sides: Loredana De Petris (LeU), Sandro Ruotolo (Mixed Group), Monica Cirinnà (Pd), Loredan Russo (M5S), Gabriella Giammanco (Forza Italia), Carlo Martelli (Mixed) , Luisa Angrisani (Mixed), Paola Nugnes (LeU), Rosellina Sbrana (Lega), Matteo Mantero (Mixed), Elio Lannutti (Mixed).
The proposal aims to ensure that the competence over large carnivores falls exclusively on the Ministry of Ecological Transition which, in collaboration with the Regions and Autonomous Provinces, exercises it in a privileged way "through the adoption of preventive methods that act on the training and promotion of coexistence and through non-bloody interventions ".
"With this Bill, which we ask to be approved soon, we want to finally put an end to an extreme situation - declares Massimo Vitturi, responsible for LAV AreaAnimali Selvatici - in which the subjects who have to decide whether or not there are non-bloody solutions to manage cohabitation with bears and wolves , they are the same ones who want to imprison and kill them, like the Province of Trento ".
A similar text according to the Lav will soon be deposited at the Chamber of Deputies, led by Doriana Sarli of the Mixed Group.
