As the vaccination campaign progresses, the coefficient of infection continues to decline and this morning stands at 0.66. • As of yesterday, 1,486 new carriers have been identified.

The Ministry of Health published this morning (Friday) the picture of the spread of the corona virus in Israel.
Yesterday, 1,225 new carriers were identified in the country, which is 1.9% of a total of 63,420 new tests.
To date, 261 new carriers have been identified, which is 1.1% of 24,159 new tests.
An encouraging statistic is that the decline in the coefficient of infection continues: the coefficient this morning is 0.66, when yesterday it was 0.68.
The number of patients hospitalized stands at 863 people, with the number of critically ill patients standing at 558 people of whom 206 are respiratory and 244 are in critical condition.
The number of recipients of the first vaccine dose is 5,150,505, which is 55.39% of all Israelis.
The number of recipients of the second dose is 4,480,810, which is 48.18% of all Israelis.
The number of people infected with the virus since the outbreak is 826,217 people, while the number of patients currently stands at 211,43.
The number of people killed in the epidemic is 6,071, when six people died yesterday and today one more person died from the virus.
Yesterday, Prof. Eran Segal of the Weizmann Institute referred in his Twitter account to the rate of decrease in the coefficient of infection and wrote that "the coefficient of infection 0.68 actually represents a weekly decrease of about 50% in cases."
In other words, if this decline continues in Israel, then according to Prof. Segal's analysis until Pesach, we will continue to see a significant drop in the rate of infection in Israel.

Prof. Segal noted that "this decline exists even though the Israeli economy is almost completely open."
According to him, a test shows that the Israeli vaccine system has been very successful - "People aged 60 and over who were first vaccinated since the peak in mid-January are seen: 86% fewer cases, 73% fewer critically ill and 91% fewer deaths. Decreases seen in all age groups ".
