The mystery about the amount of Sputnik V vaccines that arrive in Argentina this Friday finally
ended
when the Government announced that
330 thousand doses
will arrive.
It is
a drink of water in the desert
: according to vaccination figures, they will reach the country for just over
three days.
President Alberto Fernández celebrated on the national network this Thursday night that the country in the last week had been able to apply an average of
100,000 daily vaccinations
.
This "acceleration" is what at the same time reveals the impossibility of continuing with this rhythm with the available dose flow.
In recent days both the City of Buenos Aires and the Province warned about the
shortage of vaccines
.
In the first case, they said that the stock was enough until this weekend.
In the second, for one more week.
In Córdoba, for example, today they already announced that
there were no vaccines to apply.
But the new batch of Sputnik will hardly be a respite if
another flight
does not leave for Russia quickly, as it is already being transcended,
to replenish the stock
.
In the specific case of the City, the amount that it would have would be 23,400 doses: that if its vaccination rate is taken into account, it would last
approximately
two days
.
Meanwhile, there are other unknowns.
One is when the three million
Sinopharm vaccines
announced last week
will start arriving
.
On that point the Government did not give any new details.
And under the new official policy, hopefully he won't give them until the vaccines are
loaded onto the plane.
There are 330,000 more doses that are added to the 4 million vaccines that in total had reached Argentina.
In this case, these are vaccines that can only be applied to
children under 60 years of age
, until the documentation with the phase 3 trials does not arrive in the country and the ANMAT can study them to eventually recommend to the Government to start applying it to that risk group. .
The other mystery is
Covishield's
second batch
.
The first, of 580 thousand doses, arrived at the end of February and it was announced that the second would arrive before the end of March.
Clarín
consulted the AstraZeneca laboratory (Covishield is the same vaccine but produced in India) and so far they could not give details on when that remnant will arrive.
Finally, it is expected that the AstraZeneca vaccines that are manufactured in Argentina can be available by the
second week of April
.
Our country has
22.4 million hopes
deposited there
.
That is, the doses that you bought and that would be a great relief if they arrive in a timely manner.
But a problem with packaging and administrative issues in Mexico caused production to
be delayed.
For this reason, half of the doses produced in Garín's MabXience laboratory had to be transferred to another plant in the United States.
In this way, the laboratory
would be able to overcome this obstacle
and meet the expected deadlines.
Amid so much
uncertainty and scarcity
, this Friday the good news was known that India will finally produce Sputnik V. One of the reasons for the bottleneck with Russian doses had to do, precisely, with the fact that
the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world
still production had not started.
Now it was announced that India will
produce
200 million doses of the Sputnik V
.
It is a hope for Argentina, which bought 20 million doses from the Gamaleya laboratory and so far has been able to receive little more than
10 percent
, practically "courtesy" lots given by Moscow to our country.
The lack of vaccines coincides with the arrival of the cold and
the second wave of coronavirus just around the corner
.
It is in this scenario that yesterday the President admitted that the vaccination plan
is not going as expected
in Argentina.
And he claimed to maintain the care "so that the Covid does not isolate us again."
