(ANSA) - BERLIN, 19 MAR - The president of the federal republic Frank-Walter Steinmeier has awarded the couple of researchers and founders of the German company Biontech, OezlemTuereci and Ugur Sahin, the cross of merit for the services rendered, in the presence of Chancellor Angela Merkel at Bellevue Castle in Berlin.
"I'm sure, equally existential scientific prowess has rarely been rewarded in this castle," said Steinmeier.
The president admitted that mistakes were made in vaccination, which now need to be reworked.
Now what matters is "vaccinating faster, with all means at your disposal. This is the order of the day. With courage, intelligence and a little pragmatism".
