 CAGLIARI, - Beautiful, colorful.

And on the sea.

They are the house boats of the small port of Su Siccu in Cagliari.

An accommodation for tourists to tell and experience: in the water, but a five to ten minute walk from the historic center.

Just one example.

But the widespread nautical hotel in Sardinia could double or even triple guests and income.

The boats engaged in this type of hospitality are about 300. But the goal - are the estimates illustrated by the vice president of Confindustria Nord Sardegna Giovanni Conoci - is to reach a quota of 1,000 boats, a number that would guarantee a turnover of 150 million euros per year.

These are the figures that emerged in recent days during the hearings in the Productive Activities Committee of the Regional Council on the bill for the recognition of the nautical hotel widespread.

Objective: to favor the development of an autonomous tourism, capable of attracting additional flows compared to those of traditional accommodation.

The commission heard the representatives of Confindustria, Assohotel, Assonautica and Rete dei Porti.

The model is Croatia: about 6,000 boats in the water destined for experiential tourism.

With about 50 thousand people who every week live their unusual spring or summer holiday lulled by the current of the sea.

A warning: we need to clarify.

The representative of the Ports Network Franco Cuccureddu explained: "If the goal is to encourage boat rental, it is known that this sector is already governed by national laws, another matter if we are talking about house boats, a very widespread phenomenon in Florida . That of floating houses is an idea that is also taking shape in some European countries. In this case, however, it will be necessary to define well the skills that inevitably also affect urban planning ".

The president of Assohotel Carlo Amaduzzi is also in favor of a regulatory intervention: "The presences in Sardinia are still few. The island has a lot of potential, all initiatives that try to identify new forms of hospitality are welcome".

According to him, however, good intentions risk colliding with the lack of services in Sardinian ports.

"This must be taken into account - explains the president of Assohotel - the infrastructural gap represents a limit".

Also for the president of Assonautica Italo Senes the bill goes in the right direction: "The sector has great economic potential, it is now necessary to give it value and ensure adequate services for tourists who decide to spend their holidays on a boat".

Senes then suggested to the commission an addition to the law: "Those who legislate must take into account the protection of the sea and the environment in general. It would be appropriate to provide for the mandatory presence of black water collection tanks in every toilet with adequate connection structures for unloading in tourist port tanks ".
