In Italy, the incidence of flu-like syndromes remains below the epidemic threshold and, in the week from 8 to 14 March, there were about 99,500 cases, for a total, from October to today of 2,086,000 bedridden.
This is what emerges from the new InfluNet bulletin on the surveillance of influenza syndromes, by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Iss).
In all the Italian Regions that have activated the surveillance, the incidence level of flu-like syndromes, in the tenth week of 2021, is below the basic threshold, with an average value of 1.65 cases per thousand assisted.
"Last season - we read - in this same week the curve continued its descent after reaching the seasonal epidemic peak and the incidence level was 4.1 cases per thousand assisted".
In the 0-4 age group, the highest incidence is recorded, equal to 3.43 cases per thousand assisted, while due to the Covid-19 emergency, Sardinia and Calabria have not activated surveillance.
Finally, out of a total of 4,637 viral samples analyzed from the start of surveillance, none tested positive for the actual influenza virus, while 927 tested positive for Sars-CoV-2.
