Too many meetings on Zoom and too long?
There comes a way out with Zoom Escaper.
Created by a developer, it is a tool that reproduces sounds that will make others, our interlocutors, ask to stop the call.
"I thought - highlights in the Guardian Sam Levigne, the creator - how sabotage could work in a digital context, especially in an area where the means of production are also personal devices that mediate social life".
The application provides a library of annoying sounds.
It can replicate the sound of a bad connection, frustrating sounds, like an echo that you can't seem to get rid of is annoying everyone.
And then other unconventional noises, such as the sound of a baby crying (or the embarrassing sound of urination) while the meeting is in progress.
To use it you need to download free audio software called VB-Audio which routes the audio through the website, then change the audio input to Zoom from the microphone to VB-Audio and 'play' with the effects.
