Aminvestco announces "a reduction in its production levels and a temporary slowdown in its investment plans".

The measures "will be in force as long as Invitalia does not fulfill the commitments made with the Investment Agreement".

It can be read in a note from the company.

"To date - reads the note - Invitalia has not yet subscribed and paid up its share of capital and therefore has not fulfilled the obligations set out in the Agreement" which Aminvesto defines as "binding" "This persistent non-fulfillment is seriously compromising the sustainability and the prospects of the company and employees ".

"Aminvestco - explains the note - refers to the Investment Agreement signed with Invitalia on 10 December 2020 which provides for the commitment of Invitalia to subscribe and pay a capital increase of 400 million euros by 5 February 2021 and a series of other measures to support the company's investments ".

"It is quite clear that the company is in a state of absolute chaos and the communication, which took place late yesterday evening to the trade unions, of the failure to restart some plants is a clear example that the company is unable to plan production. and continues to manage such a complex factory, leaving out the aspects of safety, the environment and plant maintenance ".

This was underlined by the Rsu Fim, Fiom and Uilm delegates of the ArcelorMittal steel plant in Taranto, referring to a report from the company last night that anticipated today's note with which it formalizes a "reduction in its production levels and a temporary slowdown. of its investment plans "until Invitalia" fulfills the commitments undertaken with the Investment Agreement ".

Stops and missed starts will concern Steel Plant 1, Strip Train 2, Erw Pipe Mill, Sheet Metal Production Department 2 and Central Maintenance / Warehouses.

The company has already announced yesterday an increase in the number of workers placed in layoffs of 250 units.

But, the unions say, "to these will be added other personnel in proportion to the stops indicated".

Already in recent days, Fim, Fiom and Uilm had asked for "a meeting to find out about the running conditions as the events that have taken place in recent days - they argue - have aroused great concern for the possible repercussions both from an environmental point of view and from the protection of installations and employment ".

"In the next few years - the unions announce - we will communicate the initiatives in which we will be committed, to prevent the multinational from continuing to manage the steel plant with the sole interest: to guarantee profit at the expense of the environment, workers and plants. government intervene immediately ".
