An unfortunate coincidence.
While Japan is just emerging from the commemoration of the 10 years of the triple disaster of Fukushima, the country is once again shaken by an earthquake.
Magnitude 6.9, the latter is less powerful than the one that struck Japan on March 11, 2011, triggering a tsunami followed by a nuclear accident and causing the death of nearly 18,500 people.
The submarine earthquake struck 60 km deep on Saturday, near the northeast coast of Japan.
The earthquake that has been felt in Miyagi province has so far caused no casualties or damage.
One-meter waves were spotted, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and a tsunami warning was sounded, only to be lifted soon after.
